Britt welcomes English reggae band UB40

MEDFORD, OR — In an early peek at the 2017 season, Britt announces its first concert for the summer lineup. UB40 Legends Ali, Astro & Mickey, founding members of the original English reggae band, will play on the Britt stage for the first time on Friday, July 14, 2017. Special guests opening the show will be returning Britt favorite Matisyahu & rising reggae band Raging Fyah.

Britt President and CEO Donna Briggs says, “This fun show is just a teaser to what is shaping up to be another fantastic season.”

UB40 has reunited with original founders Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue to bring back the experience and sound of the hugely successful original UB40 line-up and their hits. UB40 dominated charts in the 1980's & '90s with the hugely successful Labour Of Love album series. Their first Labour Of Love album, in 1983, produced several hits, including a cover of Neil Diamond’s Red Red Wine, a longtime fan favorite. The band also scored hits with (I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You and I Got You Babe, a duet between Ali and the band’s old friend Chrissie Hynde.

“When we play live now, it feels like a real group,” says Ali. “The musicians in our band have all played with other reggae acts, so they love what we’re doing. And the fact that Astro is back with us after six years speaks volumes about the music we are making.”

Ticket sales for the UB40 concert begin Wednesday, February 8th for Britt members, and orders will be filled by member level. General public sales for lawn tickets will be available online only, and will begin Monday, February 13th. Reserved ticket sales will begin Friday, May 12, the beginning of Britt’s ticket sales to the general public. Patrons can visit for more information, or call the box office at 541-773-6077.
